It is the duty of every Leibstardarte Panzergrenadier to have the most historically
accurate, complete, and authentic impression at all times. This will be strictly
based off the original issue of items list as prescribed for the 1941-44 era
Waffen SS Panzergrenadier. Any and all variations, which may be in part due
to the current supply situation, must first be authorized by the unit command.
A reason for variation may be a result of the current supply situation, as was
sometimes the case during the period of the war we are replicating. Remember,
it is our unit goal to replicate the average issue of the 1944 LAH-Division
Panzergrenadier. Studying wartime photos of the actual 1.SS-Panzerdivision "Leibstandarte"
will be of great assistance. We must accurately replicate our division during
its time and not another, especially during a different time of the war. On
the following pages is a summarized issue of items list as prescribed for the
LAH-Division. Along with items you will find a list of any and all of the authorized
suppliers marked with a
.
There are a wide variety of vendors on the market with varying ranges of quality. For this reason, there are two standard rules set forth by the unit command pertaining the acquisition of any and all uniform items and equipment:
1.) All items must only be obtained through authorized suppliers. Any and all items obtained through un-authorized suppliers must first be approved through the unit command prior to purchase. Any existing items may be deemed unauthorized upon inspection. If you do not have a uniform you can purchase an approved uniform through the unit for much less money than any of our listed vendors, i.e., tunics for $100, helmets $100, etc. Contact the unit commander for details.
2.) The minimum of (1) item be obtained prior and between each event. This may include the upgrade and/or repair of items already obtained. At any time, any item may be deemed un-authorized by the unit command. This may be the direct result of the constant upgrading of reproduction techniques. It is not our mission to fall behind, but rather lead the way as the most authentic looking and best trained Waffen SS Panzergrenadiere in the world!
Commonly Asked Questions:
1.) Q: I'm a collector and I have plenty of original uniforms and equipment, can I use any of them?
A: It is strongly discouraged to use original items, however it is entirely up to the individual. The authenticity is unquestionable, but It would be best to utilize the authorized reproductions as they will hold up to the rigors of combat far longer than an item over 60 years in age. Also, the utilization of reproductions will serve to protect the historical and monetary value of the original. Special note: As almost every item of issue has been reproduced, several items have yet to be. Therefore, several original items as prescribed will need to be utilized and/or obtained.
2.) Q: I'm pretty handy with sewing and leatherwork myself, can I make my own uniforms and equipment?
A: Any and all uniform and equipment items not produced/or supplied by authorized suppliers must first be inspected and approved by authorized unit command prior to utilization. Special note: Chances are, that one-off hand made items will not replicate those made by wartime or post war replica industry.
3.) Q: Why can't I wear it, the unit I used to be in said that this piece of equipment was just fine?
A: Every unit has it's own set rules, regulations, and authenticity guidelines. There is agood chance that your other unit may have had lax rule when it came to authenticity. We in the 1st SS strive to replicate the men in the 1940's, and it would be a dishonor to be less than accurate in everything we do. You are in 2.Kompanie, where authenticity and constant improvement rules above all! Uniforms & Equipment: The following is a brief summary of what is required, regarding items of uniform and equipment. The complete original list as prescribed to the 1943-44 Waffen SS Panzergrenadier will be supplied at a later date.
